Dementia care
Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect 1 in 14 people over the age of 65 and it’s different for each person it touches. We at Axela Care offer 24 hour nursing care at home for dementia patients from a person trained to help people suffering with Dementia or Alzheimers.
Continuity of care is important so that our staff at Axela Care can form a bond with the individual they are caring for and can recognise changes in their condition. This means that we can regularly assess changing needs and the suitability of their environment, including whether they can safely stay at home. We always hold regular discussions with family, social workers, nurses and doctors, where appropriate, to ensure the best level of care is always provided.
Our ultimate aim is to help your loved one manage conditions that are affecting them, so they can safely stay in control of their life as much as possible, for as long as possible. That’s why we offer tailored care and support for each person’s specific needs.
Our work with Dementia Friends
Today, not enough people understand how a person with dementia sees the world. We believe in focusing on the whole person and not just the condition. Outside of our official company training programme, we encourage our employees to attend Dementia Friends awareness sessions and become Dementia Friends.
If you would like us to run a Dementia Friend awareness session, please contact one of the team and we will be happy to accommodate. The service is free and run by our Dementia Friends Champions on behalf of dementiafriends.org.uk.
More information and support can be found on the Alzheimers society website.
